Here are just a few of the interesting executive changes making headlines over this past week:
Futures in Place for Duffy and Durkin at CME Group
The owner of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, CME Group, announced the retirement of Phupinder Gill, CEO since 2012, at year’s end. Terry Duffy, chairman, has accepted the additional duties of CEO. He has been associated with the management of CME since 1995 as director and vice chairman, and assumed the role of chairman in 2002. Duffy was president of TDA Trading from 1981 to 2002 and has been a member of CME since 1981. He was appointed by President George W. Bush in 2003 as a member of the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board (FRTIB), a position held until 2013. At the same time, Bryan Durkin, previously COO from 2007 to 2014 and chief commercial officer since then, was named president.
YuMe Named Porrini Interim CEO
Redwood City, California-based internet advertising technology company YuMe has made a third-quarter change of its management. Jayant Kadambi, chairman and CEO, stepped down but remained on the board. Jim Soss, EVP and GM, North America, and Hardeep Bindra, EVP operations, were let go. Paul Porrini, EVP and general counsel since 2013, was named interim CEO. He served as deputy general counsel at Hewlett-Packard and general counsel of Bluestone Software prior to joining YuMe in 2012. Porrini’s legal career began at the US Securities and Exchange Commission. Eric Singer, a managing member at VIEX Capital Advisors, was named chairman.
Noonan Part of CEO Succession at OMNOVA
Ohio-based specialty chemicals manufacturer OMNOVA Solutions announced the retirement of Kevin McMullen, chairman and CEO since 2001, and promoted Anne Noonan to president and CEO. She joined OMNOVA in 2014 as president of the performance chemical division. With the move, Noonan brings three decades of experience in the chemicals industry, with stints at Chemtura, Great Lakes Chemical, McNeil Specialty Chemicals, and Squibb-Linson. As part of the announcement, the board of directors split the chairman and CEO functions and named William Seelbach, director since 2002, as chairman.
