Delta Tucker Holdings, parent of national security contractor DynCorp International and a holding company in the Cerberus Capital Management family, announced the selection on July 11. Walsh, previously worked for L-3 Communications, Lockheed Martin, Loral, and KPMG.

In an update last week, D&B Editor Tracey Panek discussed how the oil and gas industry is greasing the wheels for infrastructure construction contractor MasTec’s success. The company reported 2013 revenue of $4.3 billion, up 16% year-over-year, primarily powered by new business from the oil and gas industry. MasTec believes it is well-positioned for what for it anticipates will be increased demand for natural gas pipelines and plants and alternative energy projects. Acquisitions in recent years have also supported this oil and gas focus, including 2014′s purchase of Canadian infrastructure contractor Pacer Construction.

Citing declining demand, Samsung SDI plans to shut down its plasma TV display business by November 2014, according to Reuters. Samsung’s decision mirrors that of Panasonic, which announced its intention to cease plasma display production late last year. LG Electronics is also expected to exit the plasma market. While many experts believe plasma-based devices offer better picture quality than TVs with liquid crystal displays (LCDs), LCDs have been more popular with consumers.
